Freon and Refrigerants Gas Detector
Exchangeable sensor unit including digital value processing and self-control for the continu-ous monitoring of the ambient air.
The sensor unit MC2 houses a module with μController, analog output and power supply in addition to the semicon-ductor sensor element including amplifier. The μController calculates a linear 4–20 mA (or 2–10 V) signal out of the measurement signal and also stores all relevant measured values and data of the sensor element.
Calibration is done either by simply replacing the sensor unit or by using the comfortable, integrated calibration routine directly at the system.

μGard®2 R134a Freon and Refrigerants Gas Transmitter MC2-X-S2077-01-A-X-X GasAlarm
μGard®2 (developed by MSR) is the new exchangeable sensor unit that is capable of digital value processing, temperature compensation, and self-control for the continuous monitoring of the ambient air to detect R134a refrigerant gas.
The MC2-X-S2077-01-Aa-X-X is a sensor element at its core with many possible customizations. The beauty of the microgard 2 system is a microcontroller integrated into the Semi-Conductor R134a sensor module. The integrated temperature compensation ensures the highest accuracy, selectivity and reliability despite the long calibration interval. The microcontroller calculates a linear 4-20 mA (or 2-10V) signal out of the measurement signal of the Semi-Conductor sensor and also stores all relevant measured values and data of the sensor element.
Calibration is a breeze with this modular design allowing easy swapping of the sensor unit or via the use of the integrated calibration routine directly at the system.
FEATURES
- Digital measurement value processing incl. temperature compensation
- Data / Measured values stored in the microcontroller on the sensor unit allowing easy swap of an old sensor with a newly calibrated sensor.
- High accuracy, selectivity, and reliability
- Low zero point drift
- Sensor lifetime: > 5 years / normal environment
- SIL2 Compliant development process
- Easy maintenance and calibration by the exchange of the sensor module or by integrated on-site calibration.
- 4-20 mA (or 2-10V) analog output with selectable signal output for special mode, fault, etc.
- Reverse polarity protected, overload and short-circuit proof
- Integrated heating down to -35°C
- Plug and play type concept for field calibration, laboratory calibration and site calibration (where the housing of the gas sensor remains on to the wall with cable wiring and later sensor cell transmitter cartridge can be plugin after calibration)
- Smart digital type calibration facility with an indication of the life of the sensor cell.
- Simplified maintenance via the exchange of pre-calibrated sensor cartridges or easy on site-calibration.

- Tough, rugged, glass-fibre reinforced, Impact resistant, fully gasketed
Polycarbonate IP 65 enclosure. - IP65 protected housing, with the provision of dust and moisture protection with
Hydrophobic filter arrangement. - Monitoring of R143b can be achieved with our optional MSR centralized Gas control and monitoring system to meet the global ventilation standards like:
o EN 378
o EN 14624
o EN 45544-1
o EN 61508-1-3
o EN 61010-1
o ANSI/UL 61010 1
o CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 61010-1
- Optional:
- Without housing
- With housing Plastic: Type D, 94 x 65 x 57 mm
- 4-20 mA output signal
- 2-10 V output signal
